Welcome to Satellite!
If you will be taking courses through Satellite, here are the steps that you need to take:
- Verify with your school counselor that Satellite credits will be accepted by your school.
- Verify with your counselor EXACTLY which courses you need to take. Some students will need to take specific courses required for graduation. Others will only need elective credits. If you need elective credits, you may choose from the Satellite courses listed in our “elective” section or you may choose from any English, history, math, or science courses we offer. This gives students the opportunity to take courses that fit their interest level or help them prepare for college. Do NOT take a course through us if you have already passed it through your school!
- Students may enroll in and take any semester of any course at any time year round.
- Students may take just the first or second semester of any 1.0 course if that’s all they need.
- Complete the registration, proctor, and order forms in this packet. Mail the completed forms to Satellite along with your payment. There is a one-time $25 registration fee, and courses cost $75 per 0.5 credit (semester course) and $150 per 1.0 credit (two semester course). Payment may be made by money order, cashier’s check, personal check, or school check payable to: Satellite High School. We cannot accept debit or credit card orders at this time.
HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS
- Once we receive your registration and order forms, course work will be printed and post mailed to the student within 7-10 business days. The course fee includes all reading material, assignments, and exams. Students do not need to have internet access or computers. Courses require a combination of homework assignments and/or exams.
- The student completes the homework assignments at home and mails them back to our office.
- The student will need to choose a test proctor in his/her area. The test proctor should be an active or retired teacher or counselor at any school level-elementary through college. All exams are sent to the student’s proctor. The student arranges with his/her proctor to take one or more exams as he/she is ready.
- The proctor mails the completed exams back to Satellite.
- Once all homework and exams have been received in our office, the student’s work will be graded in the order it was received. We do not grade anything until all work has been received for a given course. It may take up to 10 business days to grade. It is up to the students to make sure work is returned in time to meet any deadline their schools may have.
- Our grading scale: A 94-100, A- 90-93, B+ 88-89, B 84-87, B- 80-83, C+ 78-79, C 74-77, C- 70-73, D+ 68-69, D 64-67, D- 60-63, F 0-59, INC incomplete
- Once all assignments and exams have been graded, Satellite will send both the student and his/her counselor a transcript listing the course(s) and grade(s) earned. Assignments/exams with grades of 59% (F) and below may be retaken to try to raise the score—the first and second scores are averaged for a final score.
- Our program is open year round. Students may enroll and order courses at any time and complete them as slowly or quickly as they want to.
- Please contact our office if you have any questions. This registration form is for students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 in a public or private school and will be taking Satellite courses for any reason including credit-recovery, course acceleration, early graduation, college preparation, etc.

Length of Period of Enrollment: (1) Students may enroll and start/order/complete courses at any time. (2) Students may order just semester one, just semester two, or both semesters of any course at any time. (3) Satellite does not have minimum or maximum deadlines or time limits for the completion of each course.
Cost of Program: Students must pay for courses when they are ordered. The cost is $75 per 0.5 credit (one semester course), $150 per 1.0 credit (two semester course).
Other required fees: There is a one-time $25 registration fee (non-refundable) due only the first time a student enrolls in any Satellite course.
Optional fees: $4 plus postage to reorder a lost chapter, $2 plus postage to retake a failed exam, $5 to have failed homework returned to correct (work turned in incomplete may not be redone), expedited processing: $15 per order to have course(s) processed and shipped out within 3 business days, expedited grading: $15 per each 0.5 credit course to have grades processed and sent out within 3 business days
HIGH SCHOOL TEST PROCTOR INFORMATION
Satellite courses require homework assignments and/or exams for each chapter. There are 16 chapters per 0.5 credit course. In addition, two quarter exams and one final exam are required for each semester course. Quarter exams are taken after every eight chapters and cover the most important information from each set of eight chapters (they are basically midterm exams). Quarter exams come after chapters 8, 16, 24, and 32. Each quarter exam comes with its own review so that students will know what material will be covered on each exam. Cumulative semester exams are also required. All chapter, quarter, and semester final exams are automatically paid for when a course is purchased. Please note that ALL grades carry equal weight in the final course grade—quarter and final exams are not “weighted.” Chapter homework, chapter exams, quarter exams, and final exams all count equally toward the overall course grade.
Each student must have a person (proctor) to monitor his/her chapter and quarter exams. Exams and instructions will be mailed to your proctor at no additional charge. The proctor will supervise you when you take your exams, then mail them back to our office. You may arrange to take exams with your proctor whenever you’re ready. You may take one or more exams in one or more courses at each testing session. You may look at study questions or notes in between taking the exams. If your proctor does not know you, you must show a picture ID (driver’s permit or license, etc.) to your proctor each time you take an exam.
You may need to reimburse your proctor for the postage to mail your exams back to our office. You must arrange for your own proctor in your area. We prefer if your proctor is an active or retired teacher, counselor, or school administrator at any school (elementary through college). We will also allow you to test with a youth pastor, minister, etc. who works for a church or with a librarian at a public library in your area. Your proctor cannot be related to you or live in your home. If you have difficulty finding a proctor, please contact our office. In extreme situations, alternate testing arrangements are possible. Choose your proctor as soon as possible, then complete the following information and mail it back to Satellite High School at the above address.

Required Fees: There is a one-time $25 registration fee due the first time a student enrolls in Satellite. Courses must be paid for when they are ordered. No course will be shipped prior to payment. No refunds or exchanges are allowed after 5 business days; postage, registration, and exam fees will be deducted from all refunds.

Payment methods: money order, cashier’s check, school check, or personal check made payable to Satellite High School. There will be a $30 fee for a declined personal check and all grades will be held until the entire outstanding balance is paid in full. Personal checks are not accepted within 30 days of a student’s graduation date. We do not accept debit/credit cards at this time. We do accept purchase orders from schools; please contact our office for more information.

GRADING POLICIES
Work is graded only after all assignments and exams have been received for a course. Work is then graded in the order it was received, and it may take up to 10 business days to process and send your final grade to you and your school, so it is up to each student to make sure his/her work is returned in plenty of time to meet any deadline you may have for your school, graduation ceremony, military recruiter, college enrollment, etc. No information regarding grades or receipt of work in our office will be given out by phone. No student’s work will be put in front of other students’ work to be graded for any reason unless expedited grading was paid for. There are no exceptions to these grading policies.
Satellite High School Courses: Grades 9-12
Each semester (0.5 credit course) = 16 lessons, two quarter exams and a final exam.
All courses are printed on paper—courses are not online.
Courses marked with an * are 100% testing and require an exam for each chapter plus two quarter exams and one final exam. All other courses require a homework assignment for each chapter plus two quarter exams and one final exam.
